Project Goal: Internship project. Build an onboarding process for the website Garmentier.
Tools: Figma & InDesign
Background: Garmentier is an elegant and trendy tech company dedicated to assisting individual stylists and styling companies in organizing their clients, orders, and other business-related information.
Process: Throughout the entire project, I took charge of building the onboarding process for new members joining the Garmentier website. Given the extensive user information input required during onboarding, I faced the challenge of determining the optimal layout for each screen. To achieve this, I carefully considered various factors, such as the diverse range of information, ensuring consistency across all pages, utilizing proximity to establish relationships between different elements, and incorporating positive signifiers to instill user confidence and reassurance.
Takeaways: Through attention to design objectives, I successfully crafted a comprehensive onboarding process that effectively conveys Garmentier's vision for welcoming new members. This project enabled me to understand the importance of striking the right balance between usability, consistency, and user reassurance, resulting in a seamless and engaging onboarding experience.
Project Goal: Redesign the Design Museum of Chicago’s website
Tools: Adobe XD & Indesign
Process: This project spanned over a duration of six weeks and involved a comprehensive approach encompassing client research, analysis, strategy development, scoping, structuring, skeleton design, and surface design. The project placed significant emphasis on crafting an outstanding user experience tailored to the needs of every consumer who would interact with the website.
Takeaways: Throughout this process, I acquired valuable insights into the critical steps required to create a website that excels in both quality and efficiency. These lessons enabled me to develop a deep understanding of how to optimize user experience while maintaining exceptional standards of design and functionality.
Project Goal: Critique and redesign the phone version website of fromyouflowers.com
Tools: Axure
Process: This project encompassed two primary phases: Critique and Redesign. During the Critique phase, I systematically deconstructed the application's layout and conducted an in-depth analysis of the user experience design principles at play. This evaluation helped me identify the aspects that were effective as well as those that required improvement. Based on these findings, I focused on developing targeted solutions to address the identified issues. In the Redesign phase, I restructured the application's organization and revamped three distinct sections.
Takeaways: The primary objective of this project was to enhance the application's user-friendliness by refining wayfinding, improving hierarchy, simplifying choices, and optimizing the overall layout. I successfully achieved this objective, and I have confidence that the redesigned interface will significantly enhance the user experience, resulting in a more positive overall interaction with the application.
Project Goal: Design a new User Guide for Shure's STEM Wall product.
Process: The goal of this User Guide was to develop a design system that is easily understandable and user-friendly, while also aligning with Stem Ecosystem's clean and modern visual objectives. I initiated the process by prioritizing the user's needs and mental models, which allowed me to determine the most effective organization of information and structures. From then I created a consistent hierarchy system that was crucial in breaking down the dense content strategically, which further ensured that the guide remained accessible for reading and enhanced its wayfinding capabilities.
Takeaway: This project provided me with valuable insights into enhancing the appeal and navigability of information. I gained a deeper understanding of techniques to make content more engaging and user-friendly, enabling me to create a more satisfying user experience.
Project Goal: Re-organize Shure's User Guide for their MX100 Series product.
Process: The objective of reorganizing Shure's User Guide was to streamline the information for efficient consumption and to enhance the overall user experience in a positive manner. The reduction in the amount of space the information took up was particularly significant as it resulted in cost savings for the company by minimizing the need for physical printing resources. To achieve this, I employed usability testing to develop well-structured information architectures that catered to user needs. Additionally, by incorporating user empathy, I created accurate and informative technical drawings that improved visual representation and facilitated effective communication. These efforts culminated in the creation of a comprehensive and informative user guide.
Takeaway: My greatest accomplishment in this project was successfully condensing the information within the user guide while concurrently enhancing the user experience through thoughtful design thinking. This approach allowed me to strike a balance between presenting crucial information concisely and delivering an engaging and user-friendly experience.
